Where we live

Kelly's Korner is hosting a Where you Live Blog Carnival. I love house tours, so I thought I would jump ringht in. I never thought I'd make it through the 300 something kitchens last week, but I did and I'm so looking forward to the Living Room Edition.

Come on in!

I'm Kether and this is my house in the sunny desert of Southern California. We moved in last August and have been been busy making this house a home in the midst of all the rest of the busy-ness of life. We have three living areas in this house. A 'formal' living and dining room, a hearth room off of the kitchen and a loft living room upstairs.
I forgot to take pictures earlier... so I had to scrounge through snapfish to find some that would show you where we live.
This is our hearth room. It is right off of the kitchen. It is also open to the entry, living and dining room. Our last house was a small 1926 bungalow cottage with a separate kitchen, so I love love love having a hearth room where I can see the fire as I cook, and, of course, hang out with people.
One thing I loved about this house is that though the fireplace is in the hearth room, I can see it from the living room.

I do not like this fireplace AT ALL. It is much better now that the walls are red, but coming soon to a hearth room near me will be a different fireplace, or at least a mantle.

Our Living room is very Victorian. I love the wallpaper, even though that I know most people think it is way too much. I love, love, love this room and the way the light streams in in the early morning. I need to raise our engagement picture, but I haven't yet made an effort to do that. One of my favorite things in the room is the stained glass sconces on either side of the picture window. They look like hanging lanterns and I'm so happy my mom convinced me to get them (and paid for them). I have several stained glass lamps in this room and the dining room and I'm starting to call those rooms the "stained glass rooms"
And finally we have the loft. This is how it looked right when we move in. It is different now, but only slightly. I couldn't find any more current pictures. Needless to say this room is on the things to do list big-time. But I love it. In our old house we had the computer in one room and a tv in the other. In the other half of this room (to the right of the picture) is a half wall of bookshelves and a computer table. We can now all be in the same room at one time. This room is also open to the landing... such a nice feeling after boxy, closed in rooms of our cottage.

So, that's where we live. Thank you so much for stopping by. I can't wait to visit you at your house!

You moved in after us....and have done a lot more, congrats! Well we decided not to paint until our 11 month inspection when they come and do any drywall fixes that are needed. Also after the chaotic mess and extreme stress that went along with selling our old home....we just weren't to interested in doing anything, and we had no money lol. I love the sconces, the whole room has just come together so nicely:-)
